Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012

New Years Eve parties can be a bit of a risk generally. There’s the weather, the cost and of course the massive weight of expectation that comes with such an important date.

Over the years we have been to some truly awful NYE parties so when we decided to put on our New Years Eve showcase the whole team were justifiably nervous. The event sold out a few days before Christmas and we had a further 311 requests for tickets that we unfortunately couldn’t supply.

The night started off a little wobbly with a small electrical fault, hardly surprising when you consider how much kit we had stacked in the marquee but it wasn’t long before things had settled and we could get down to the serious business of partying.

The decision to book the line up was as methodical as usual and rightly so. It was a double debut for two of our artists but they didn’t disappoint. Kim Fai was as majestic as we had hoped, lots of exclusive tracks pounded from the speakers, mixed seamlessly and each track more progressively uplifting than the next.

Tristan Ingram played a blinder for his first T.D.U.K set with a dusting of classics thrown in for good measure, We have to admit that when he dropped ‘Thrillseakers’ we had one of those moments.

The residents also contributed strongly with two cracking warm-up sets from Nathan Martin and man of the Moment, Adam Neenan. Both setting the stage perfectly for the ascension into 2012.

The T.D.U.K honcho’s Mike Mac & Mark Dickson took us down memory lane with a big room set which ignited the sell out crowd. Tracks from the likes of Daft Punk, Cirez D, Orbital, Underworld, Faithless and many more. Midnight came in a hail of pyrotechnics and confetti explosions only for Pete Griffiths to blow what was left of the roof of with a series of monstrous bootlegs and Toolroom exclusives...

The atmosphere was electric from the word go, the crowd were absolutely spot on, it’s one thing we are particularly proud of, the fact that our clubbers are amongst the very best around and the way in which the conduct themselves speaks volumes.

So, we soldier on. February 25th we return to Banks with the next chapter in the T.D.U.K Story.
